Human Rights Day, a date to reflect
Every December 10, the Human Rights Day is celebrated worldwide, a date in which the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) back in 1948.
This historical document set forth the rights to every person as human being regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political opinion, among others.
Since the Declaration was adopted in 1948, the expanding foundation for a protection system of human rights was established, and today it focuses on the group of persons with disabilities, the indigenous people and migrants.
In the anteroom of the 75th anniversary of the Declaration that shall be celebrated on December 10th, 2023, the United Nations shall start a campaign aiming at disseminating 30 articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. They seek to ensure and satisfy essential conditions to develop a dignified life for people.
Today, it is a date inviting us to reflect upon whether currently all the people fully enjoy these rights. At Fundación Comparlante, we understand that acknowledging them allow us to have them respected. Therefore, we daily work to construct a more equative world in which the human rights of all the people are respected.
